FOREWORDS  DUKERS has proven to be a good host to travelers who come to Guayaquil. The Dukers Project "Your Friend In Guayaquil" which joins a group of heart felt Guayaquil natives, with the purpose to promote and make the beauty of Guayaquil City, known to visitors from within Ecuador and abroad.
Volunteers offer cultural, social and touristic activities, for the benefit of visitors, it's members, and the Guayaquil community in general.
DUKERS was created July 17, 2007 beginning with the founder and president's original idea, Eng. Douglas Reyes, backed by a Guayaquil natives group, and from the inception, have been leaving a deep mark within the city, through social and cultural activities executed with the support of the Very Illustrious Municipality of Guayaquil and other Organizations.
All activities and benefits the Foundation offers, are free, for national and foreign visitors, as well as for it's members, and are financed through voluntary donations by entities, local business and the generosity of some members, especially it's founder Eng. Douglas Reyes, a very passionate man about our city. OUR MISSION
To promote and show the city of Guayaquil's image to all visitors, local and foreigners, to procure for them the living of a unique experience along their stay. through cordial hospitality, with the human warmth of Guayaquil natives and with their understanding of the city's culture, history, gastronomy and traditions.
To accomplish this mission, the DUKERS FOUNDATION, have the support of it's members, the DUKERS, who with enthusiasm donate their time and knowledge of Guayaquil city, to Chaperone visitors during their stay in the city, same as if they would, friends when they come to visit us; this way, with much pride, we gain for the visitors, the best possible impression.
This is re-enforced by the support of the municipal authorities, hotel chains, tourism operators, Universities and private Institutions, training on the field of tourism, museums, and advisers in cultural themes, traditions and Historians.
OUR VISION
The DUKERS Foundation projects itself as an entrance to be recognized by Guayaquil natives and the Authorities, by it's contribution and impact on promoting Guayauil City, as a place which could be visited and to live a great experience, thanks to the hospitality and warmth given to visitors by it's members, breaking the many foreigners paradigm that the city is considered dangerous.
At the same time, the DUKERS FOUNDATION, intents to be an institution of social promotion, an opportunities generator for Guayaquil natives, who have not been favored by society, through implementing special programs for vocational training, motivating volunteers, and the love of the city among it's members and beneficiaries.
MOTIVATION
DUKERS are Guayaquil native volunteers, motivated by their great love to Guayaquil, who enjoy showing their city with pride as well as transmit our Culture, ways, gastronomy, history and other interesting points to visiting tourists.
A DUKERS most posses favor, be enthusiastic and sociable; and, the most important one, be willing to voluntarily help the traveler.
DUKERS are solidary people; and, with our actions we want to contribute to the understanding of people, the integration of our city and the great universal community.
We want for Guayaquil and it's people, to be appreciated by their loveliness and hospitality. OBJECTIVES
- To offer visitors, local and foreigners, the opportunity of a unique experience during their visit to Guayaquil, giving them useful information to travel around the city getting to know the places of paramount attraction and historical, architecture, and cultural interest.
- To promote and organize cultural and artistic events to show new and present Guayaquil native talents, in all the expressed arts manifestations: Music, canvas, literature, sculpture, etc. These events will be for the benefit of all the Guayauil natives and in general, for local and foreign visitors.
- To organize programs for touristic, cultural and historical training where the center will be the city of Guayaquil, with the cooperation of cultural institutions, museums and local authorities.
- Motivate and generate the cooperation of new members through spreading 0f ideas and purposes of the DUKERS FOUNDATION, for which would be necessary T.V., Radio and printed media.
- To reach self financial means, through a plan to acquire funds, donations, and patronage by entities which can identify themselves with the MISSION and OBJECTIVES of the DUKERS FOUNDATION.
- To encourage volunteerism to younger generations, as well as motivate them to get involved, in general, in tourism for the city at it's different manifestations as cultural, religious, and gastronomy, etc.
BENEFITS AND STRENGTH
- The benefits and services offered by members and the DUKERS FOUNDATION, are free.
- DUKERS FOUNDATION is nonpolitical, does not discriminate gender, race, religious believe, nor nationalities.
- DUKERS Is a program similar to other International Social Reds for the movement. "Your friend in the city", which has a presence in Chicago-Illinois; Fairbanks-Alaska; Houston-Texas; Toronto-Canada; Tokio-Japan; Soul-South Korea; Berlin-Germany; Melbourne and Adelaide-Australia; Bronx-Brooklyn-Manhattan-Queens-Staten Islands-New York U.S.A.; Buenos Aires-Argentina; Paris-France, Guayaquil-Ecuador; among other 45 cities around the world.
- We have promoted and aided in the creation of similar movements in Montevideo - Uruguay and in Lima-Peru, having planned and created, as an i.e. the DUKERS in Montevideo 2.009.
- It is an active promoter and of significant cultural, artistic and traditional impact, including regional culture, through organized artistic and training events for Guayaquil natives.
- Promotes Guayaquil and it's social activities, among all media as T.V., Major Radio Stations, and Written Press.
- Has a Web Page through which it broadcasts it's activities. Promotes Guayaquil Touristic Attractions, allows visitors from the entire world to connect and program scheduiing their visits in advance.
- Has signed Institutional Cooperation Agreements, with the city museums and Institutions of cultural interests.
- Ha executed complete training programs which include it's History, knowledge of interesting places and visits guided by experts in Architecture, Tourism, Monuments and Parks as well as the city History.
- Keeps permanent communication and cooperation with the Guayaquil Very Illustrious Municipality, and it's Departments of Civic and Cultural Promotion, Tourism and Data Processing.
- Maintains P.R. and cooperation with Hotel Chains and Receptive Tourism.
- University Students support and execute 8 hours Postgraduate studies with the different activities the DUKERS execute; considered by some Universities, an important credit, the time in our NPO.

A very important and determining aspect for the development of activities at the DUKERS FOUNDATION, is to establish links with sectors, institutions and entities of the public and private areas, which have interests and are favored, either direct or indirectly, by the effects and benefits the DUKERS presence generates in our Society. - Attention or chaperoning for over 250 travelers, free of charge.
Issuing of Institutional videos inviting tourists to visit Guayaquil, which were distributed all over the world through our web page www.dukers.org. Training Courses on History and Guayaquil Traditions, by aspiring DUKERS and permanent ones, a well as the citizenry in general, with the cooperation of the Municipal Museum and it's Director Licensed Nancy Palacios, and Architect Melvin Hoyos Galarza, Director of Civic and Cultural Promotion. Seminars on Travelers Services and Touristic Attractions in the City, with the cooperation of the the Tourism Department of the Very Illustrious Municipality of Guayaquil and Mr. Joseph Garzozi. First International Meeting of World Traveler 2009, from Friday 18th through the 20th of July 2008 at the Colon Plaza, which was a public event for all Guayaquil natives and the general public, in homage to our city which included a Symphony Folkloric Concert, strolls on the Malecon Regenerated areas; visits to the city Museums in coordination with Dr. Carmen Aviles, Civic Promotion Director and her team. Launching of our Web Page facilitating the interconnection and dialog with countries around the world. Reaching out to over 1200 DUKERS volunteers; who love Guayaquil and show it by volunteering. Interview Published by LA REVISTA, of EL UNIVERSO daily. Ecuavisa, Channel 3, RTU, Gamavision, Teleamazonas, Channel One, CNN International, Telesistema, and Telerama Reports. Reports from El Expreso, El Telegrafo, Hoy, La Calle, and the Magazines Mi Guayaquil, Info Guayaquil, and Transport Magazine whose specialty is Tourism. Publishing notes of the many travelers helped, on our web page www.dukers.org and www.viajeros.com Cooperation and Counseling on the creation of DUKERS in Lima - Peru, and Montevideo - Uruguay. Visits to our Icon (General Cemetery), Centennial Park, the Cathedral, Las Penas, Seminario Park, guided by Historian Parcival Castro. Design and Publication of promotions in Hotels, Metrovia Stops, Embassies, Information places, and points of great touristic access and around different parks in the city. Participation on FITE - 2008, having been the only NPO which helps tourists, free of charge, that had a specialized stand in Guayaquil and the DUKERS in support, the Horizon Group through Mr. Jaimie Rull and his Team.
