Tourists in Guayaquil
Requesting a Dukers volunteer:
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE REQUESTING A
DUKERS VOLUNTEER
Before
you can request a Dukers volunteer guide, you must first
book accommodation in Guayaquil. You should then send
your name and phone number (including international
dialling code) along with the name and registration code
of your hotel to the following e-mail address: gcoello @
dukers.org
-
We will call you three days before
you arrive in Guayaquil to confirm your arrival and
provide you with details of the Dukers volunteer
assigned to you.
-
You must plan to spend at least 2
days in Guayaquil.
-
Maximum group sizes for the city
walking tours are 6 tourists (including children)
and 2 Dukers volunteers.
-
You must request Dukers volunteers at
least one month before you arrive in order to
maximize their availability.
-
We prefer that all our tours be
conducted either on foot or using public transport.
If alternative transport is required, the tourists
must bear the costs.
-
Please remember that we are not
professional tour guides, but a group of volunteers
who want to show you what our city has to offer.
-
Do not offer tips to volunteers
before, during or after the guided tours. However,
voluntary donations to the Dukers Foundation are
greatly appreciated.
-
There is no set route for the walking
tours, as they are organized to meet the needs and
preferences of each group of tourists.
-
While we do our best to accommodate
all visitors, requesting a Dukers volunteer does not
guarantee that one will be available during your
stay in Guayaquil.
-
Dukers volunteers are only available
in the city of Guayaquil. If you wish to visit other
places in Ecuador, we recommend that you locate a
professional tour guide.
Many people can feel lost or alone when
outside the familiar settings of their own country or
city. At Dukers, our aim is to make you feel welcome and
provide you with a friendly face to help you explore our
city.
All data that you provide to Dukers must
be true and accurate. If any data is found to be
deliberately false or misleading after we have confirmed
its receipt, your application will be declared null and
void.
Each
time you visit our city, whether on business, as a
tourist, or for other reasons, with Dukers you will
always have “ a friend in Guayaquil “
See the real Guayaquil by attending a
hotly-contested soccer match between the two biggest
teams in the city, visit Iguana Park and the Malecón
2000 urban renewal project, climb the 456 steps of Santa
Ana Hill to enjoy breathtaking views… Whatever your
interests, a Guayaquil native will be waiting to show
you around this exotic city known as the gateway to
Ecuador.
What can you expect from the Dukers
Foundation?

All
Dukers volunteers are chosen for their warmth, kindness
and pride in their city. They will show you both tourist
and non-tourist areas of the city so that you can get a
taste of how regular people live day-to-day. Their aim
is to offer you an enjoyable and different tourist
experience, so that you will take a lasting impression
of Guayaquil home with you, and maybe even come back for
more!
Our volunteers have in-depth knowledge of
the city, its culture, public holidays and latest
attractions.
Dukers will offer you a warm welcome and
invite you to discover the magical city of Guayaquil,
known as the Pearl of the Pacific.
Our activities are funded by
contributions from public and private tourism firms, as
well as by donations from tourists and the general
public.
